Municipal Urban Forest Assessments
In 2010 and 2011, urban forestry faculty, staff, and students at Virginia Tech performed urban forest assessments for several municipalities around the Virginia. The purpose of these assessments was to determine the abundance and composition of urban forests in these municipalities along with the benefits that these forests provide for citizens and the local environment. A description of each project is provided in the links below. A link is also provided to a summary report for each municipality that details the findings of the assessment. Questions about this project should be directed to Eric Wiseman, associate professor of urban forestry, (pwiseman@vt.edu).
