Work with Us!

We collaborate with municipalities, universities, and other stakeholders to create knowledge and resources to improve community forests. Virginia Tech’s widely recognized graduate and undergraduate programs offer opportunities for those interested in expanding professional opportunities or pursuing academic research.

If you are interested in our work or evaluating any of our research products, let us know! Here are some options:

  • If you would like to offer an internship, our undergraduate students are always looking for stimulating, well-organized, paid internships that will give them insight into the world of the practicing urban forester or urban forestry consultant. If you have an appropriate internship, we will be happy to distribute your announcement to our students.
  • If you would like to stay up to date on our research, subscribe to the VT Urban Forestry blog. Some municipalities have implemented soil profile rebuilding or the below-ground stormwater management system with structural soils. We would love to hear from you and possibly monitor any of your results.
  • We have ongoing projects in urban forest management including inventory and assessment, planting program evaluation, and wood waste utilization. If you would like to provide data or otherwise collaborate on some of the projects, contact us at vtuf@vt.edu.
